Films are one of the most effective ways to educate students
on various subjects. A survey on nearby areas of Hope primary
schools showed that over 80% of farmers never have watched
a film in groups in the last ten years while over 90% pupils have
never watched a film in a group and nearly 90% pupils have never
watched a large-screen film.
In an effort to bring films to teachers and pupils of Hope
primary schools and farmers in nearby areas as a way to
strengthen community development, CYDF has included “Hope
Cinema” in the plan of “Project Hope Scale-up” to raise public
funding for equipment to show movies and allowance for movie
showings to take place at Hope primary schools.
Over 100 pieces of equipment for digital movie screening
have been donated to Hope primary schools in ten provincial areas
across China to date. CYDF has also contributed to the production
of the first Project Hope charity movie in China named “Hope.”
The plot of the movie is based on Zhou Biaoliang, a girl who
received financial aid from China’s former leader, Deng Xiaoping.
The movie made its debut on June 9th in Nanning, Guangxi.
