In remote areas of China, very few primary schools have computer labs and many children have never even seen a computer. Surveys have shown that 80% of schools in rural communities do not have computer labs and that only 20% of IT classes exist in rural areas due to the lack of hardware. A computer lab can promote IT education in rural communities and improve the general level of education in schools. This program aims to equip HopeSchools and schools in remote rural areas with a computer lab.
As a new donation program of Project Hope, Hope Computer Lab will offer multimedia long-distance learning courses via the Internet. The first step is to equip the selected rural PrimaryHopeSchools with computers and phone lines. the Hope Computer Lab will then provide training courses for teachers, The donation of 100,000 yuan will provide a school with a computer with advanced configuration, one printer, network and receiver facilities, and software for primary education. The donation also covers the operational and maintenance expenses for the first five years. To acknowledge the charitable contributions of the donor, eachHope Computer Lab learning program would be named after the donor as either an individual or an organization. The donor is also entitled to attend the completion ceremony of the Hope Computer Lab.
