“Stars of Hope” is a title conferred on the most promising students selected among Project Hope beneficiaries. The fund gives them scholarships to enable them to continue schooling or pursue higher education since many youth do not have enough money to fulfill their dreams of going to university. Candidates of “Stars of Hope” are recommended to the provincial youth development foundations by various Project Hope schools through local youth leagues, and then to the CYDF, who verifies their qualifications. Qualified ones are recommended to donors, who can sponsor “Stars of Hope” on one-on-one basis.

 

The level of sponsorship is:

Primary school: RMB 1,000 per student (from Grade 2 to Grade 6)
Migrant children school: RMB 1,000 per student (form Grade 2 to Grade 6)
Junior high school: RMB 2,000 per student (for three years)
Senior high school: RMB 3,000 per student (for three years)
College/university: RMB 4,000 per student

 

Aside from individual sponsorship, there is also the “Stars of Hope Class” which provides for inter-provincial schooling of especially promising Stars of Hope students.  The program provides for all living expenses along with traveling expenses needed for summer and winter holidays.
