Project Hope also helps donate library sets and materials to children. These mini libraries include encyclopedias, national curriculum approved books and other materials for students and teachers.
A survey found that 80% of the libraries in rural areas do not reach national standards for education. In some areas of Western China, there are no reading materials available besides students’ textbooks, so even the teachers’ reference materials are very limited. The Hope Mini Library project seeks to provide necessary books to Hope Schools and other schools in remote rural areas.
A donation of RMB 10,000 will provide 1,000 books and three bookshelves for a school. These books include reference books for teaching and books about social science, literature, and science, to name a few.
Donors receive a tax-exemption receipt for their contribution. Donors are also entitled to name the Project Hope Library and attend a completion ceremony of the library that has been donated.
