In the remote rural areas of China, many schools have only minimal PE equipment there is no way to ensure that PE lessons and after-school activities are held. There are few opportunities for children to get necessary exercise.
A Project Hope Happy Playground does not discriminate between rural and urban children.
A survey conducted over a period of two years found that only 39.1% of rural schools have PE equipment. In primary schools, only 34% have the equipment.. Furthermore, there are no means to ensure that the requirement of 1-hour per day of physical activity for students can be reached.
Aid
Objective:
To assist Hope Schools and schools in remote rural areas that are pressed for PE gym equipment.
Criterion for donation:
Donate 20,000 RMB to establish a Project Hope PE playground.
The equipment includes basketball equipment, table tennis equipment, horizontal bars, parallel bars, soccer equiptment, skipping ropes and so on.
10% of the donation funds will be used on the services, management and administration of CYDF.
Aid Procedure:
Schools that match the conditions must submit applications.
CYDF confirms the applications.
CYDF discusses and confirms the schools with donors.
CYDF buys the equipment, transfers it to the schools, then the schools sign for it.
“ Today is the most wonderful day that I have ever had since I started to go to school, because we had our PE lesson for a whole day! I have never laid on a cushion soft as this, it is wonderful!”
Said by Fengshan Wang, a 12 years old boy from Jinqiangyi Hope School of Dachaigou Village, Tianzhu county of Gansu Province, when his school accepted the donation and created their Project Hope PE playground on 20th Oct 2007.
