Founded in 1837, Procter & Gamble (P&G) is one of the largest consumer manufacturers in the world. In 1988, P&G began operations in China. Since then, a number of factories and branches have been opened in Guangzhou, Beijing, Chengdu and Tianjin, bringing quality products to the Chinese market. P&G employs over 4,000 workers in China.P&G has to date donated a total of 16 million yuan to Project Hope, an organization dedicated to building schools in remote areas of rural China. Project Hope, with P&G’s assistance, has build 100 elementary “Hope” schools, the largest number among global companies in China.
Having operated in China for 15 years, P&G has developed extensive programs to support education in cooperation with its retailers. Eight thousand retail stores and forty million consumers have contributed to the program while selling and buying P&G products. Furthermore, 280,000 people have sent their regards to children in underdeveloped areas. Among the programs, P&G and PriceSmart have joined forces to build the “PS-P&G Hope School.” In cooperation with Lego Commercial Distribution Group, P&G also held a “Priceless Hope” charity sale to finance Hope Schools. With Sichuan Hongqi Chain Co. Ltd., P&G set up a new example with retailers in supporting Project Hope.
